Video Capture SDK only recognizing analogy from tuner.

Recently installed the Video Capture SDK to use in VB. I add the component and able to place control on form. It only recognizes the analog portion of the tuner card, therefore plays no tv signal. I have an Hauppauge 2250 card installed and working. When i run the demo app they have it shows the card in the device box but only as analog and list it as Hauppauge WinTv 7164 analog capture. Does this mean the control is of no use when working with a digital tuner? Or am I forgetting to do something else. Any help appreciated.
